JOB DESCRIPTION:
GCRC is seeking to hire a Community Thrift Sore Job Coach. This role involves supporting adults with developmental disabilities in learning the skills necessary for working in a retail environment. This role alos involves coaching individuals in workplace responsibilities, fostering social skills, and ensuring that the individuals' objectives are met in alightment with their Individualized Service Plans (ISPs).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Individualized Support: Supporting adults with developmental disabilities in learning how to complete basic tasks associated with working in a retail environment – sorting and organizing donations, placing donations in appropriate areas for sale, stocking shelves, maintaining clean / orderly work areas and departments, operating cash registers, developing social skills including appropriate dress / hygiene practices, improving customer service skills and relations, and practicing strong work ethics.
- Dependability: Remaining with assigned individuals until properly relieved
- Teamwork: Working closely with supervisors, other employees, and individuals to support them in the best way possible, participating in the development and implementation of ISPs.
- Documentation: Maintaining daily data logs and completing written monthly reports that are aligned with individuals' goals, submitting them promptly, ensuring objectives remain current and appropriate, and ensuring attendance sheets are up to date.
- Physical Tasks: Assisting individuals with dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and window cleaning as needed.
- Keeping thrift store display windows updated with seasonal or holiday themes.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED (some roles may require additional certifications)
- Fingerprint Clearance Card
- CPR/First Aid, CIT, and Article IX Training (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, empathy, honesty, and a team-oriented attitude
- Patience and a commitment to supporting individuals with diverse needs
- Punctuality and availability for scheduled shifts
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and assisting with mobility.
